An Operating System is the fundamental software that controls a computer. It handles the way the hardware operates, the communication with peripherals including a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between the installed applications, along with the prioritization of apps in case multiple ones run concurrently. Each program that's installed on a desktop or a notebook operates by sending requests to the OS for different services by using an application program interface (API). The interaction with the OS is possible via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting world, the OS is what controls a server along with all the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition every other application for example a VOIP or a game server. When there are virtual machines created, they work with a guest OS that is run on the server host OS.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
Our VPS server solutions feature three Linux distributions which you may select from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being totally free, the OSs are really stable and protected and the primary reason to offer you all three of them is to ensure that you will be able to run each app that you'd like, as different pieces of software may have different requirements in terms of the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is backed by a vast community of web developers who have generated a large number of software packages that you can set up and use on your VPS. Depending on the Operating System which you pick, you will also be able to select between 3 different Control Panels to take care of your website hosting content. Of course, if you decide that you need some other OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the Operating System for optimum stability and security.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they’re also known as the most dependable and risk-free OSs. We offer three different ones since each one of them is backed by a separate community. The packages that you can add on your hosting server are different and this could matter in case you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements for the hosting environment. In this light, the internet hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the OS that you'll pick. You can pick any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, but if necessary, we can always install the server anew with an alternative one upon your request. As an optional service that you can add to the package at any moment, we can update your OS on a regular basis so as to keep it as secure as possible.
